Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) provide free and confidential short-term counseling to single out an employee's problem and, when appropriate, refer them to an outside organization, facility, or separate program that can help the employee in resolving his or her problem. Job effectiveness can be adversely affected when employees are dealing with the variety of life's troubles.
EAPs can help employees who have:
- alcohol and/or drug problems
- mental or emotional problems
- family responsibilities
- financial or legal difficulties
- dependent (both child and elder) care needs
Participation in an EAP program is strictly voluntary. EAPs provide comprehensive counseling and referral services to help employees strike a balance between their work, their family, and other personal responsibilities. The goal is to restore employees to full productivity.
